Meeting & Editing
This category has two lines: tools that record meetings and tools that record and edit content. Otter.ai and Fireflies.ai send a bot into online meetings to leave a transcript and summary. Descript and Riverside.fm are for recording and editing podcasts and video, where the transcript is an editing tool. Loom sends screen recordings for asynchronous explanation — closer to a replacement for a meeting than a record of one.
How to choose
- For meeting notes: where do summaries and action items need to go? If they should land in your CRM or Slack automatically, Fireflies' range of integrations matters.
- For recording: if speakers are in different places, Riverside's local recording on each device protects audio quality; if you want to edit by editing text, Descript.
- Either way: a meeting bot records everyone. With external participants, settle how you announce recording and get consent before you deploy one.
