Loom is an Atlassian-owned tool for recording screen and camera videos that teammates watch asynchronously instead of meeting live.
- Screen and camera recording from a browser extension or desktop app, shared by link
- Transcripts in 50+ languages, including Japanese, on every plan
- Business + AI turns recordings into documents, meeting notes and recap emails
- recordSDK lets products embed Loom recording in their own interface
- Free Starter plan allows 25 videos, each up to 5 minutes, at 720p
- Plain Business includes no AI features; they cost extra in Business + AI
- Filler-word removal works only on English videos, and transcripts cannot be translated
- Built for one-way async video, not for editing multi-speaker recordings

Overview
Loom suits teams that replace status meetings and walkthroughs with short recorded videos and already use Atlassian tools. Recording is quick from the browser extension or desktop app, and transcripts are produced in 50+ languages, Japanese included, on every plan. The AI layer (automatic video enhancement, video-to-text documents, meeting notes and recap emails) is sold separately as Business + AI; plain Business adds unlimited length and 4K but no AI. The free Starter plan's 25-video and 5-minute limits make it a trial rather than a working tier. Developers get recordSDK and embedSDK, not a full data API.
