Coconala

Review

For a buyer, what separates Coconala from other Japanese crowdsourcing platforms is that the price is settled before you talk to anybody. CrowdWorks and Lancers are built around posting a job and waiting for applicants; Coconala is built around browsing listed services and buying one, so there is no quoting round. On work with a single defined deliverable — one logo, one article, a 30-minute consultation — that difference is the whole difference in time spent.

The flip side is that fixed pricing suits fixed scope. On work you intend to shape as you go, every change outside the listing triggers another negotiation and another charge, and the total drifts away from the number you first saw. While requirements are still moving, hourly contracting on CrowdWorks or Upwork gives you a more predictable total.

The platform is effectively Japanese-only, so it is not where you post English or multilingual work — for that, Fiverr or Upwork. Fees are deducted from the seller's earnings, so as a buyer you pay the listed price; sellers price with that deduction in mind, though, which can put rates above what the same work costs commissioned directly. Worth pricing the same brief elsewhere once before you commit.
