AI Video Generation
"AI video" covers three separate jobs. Runway, Pika and Wan Video generate footage from text or images. Synthesia and HeyGen produce videos where an avatar speaks in place of a person. Veed.io adds subtitles and edits to footage you already have. Decide which job you have first; comparing across them does not tell you much.
How to choose
- Footage generation: each generation is a short clip. For anything longer, budget for the editing that joins clips and for the credits it burns.
- Avatar video: for training and e-learning, Synthesia (SCORM export for LMSs); for dubbing into other languages, HeyGen's video translation.
- Pricing: most of these meter by credits, so the monthly price alone does not tell you the cost. Count how many videos, and how many minutes, you need per month.
