AI Meeting Devices
AI note-taking devices are dedicated hardware for situations a phone app handles badly — in-person meetings, phone calls, being on the move. Each has a different form: Plaud Note is a card that attaches to the back of a phone, ZENCHORD1 is an earphone you wear into the meeting, and Omi is an open-source wearable that can run transcription on your own API key. In every case the transcription and summary happen in an app or cloud service afterwards.
How to choose
- Language and setting: for meetings in Japanese, ZENCHORD1, which transcribes with Notta, starts from a different place. Whether you record in person, on the move or throughout the day also points to a different form.
- Beyond the device price: transcription minutes and summaries are often capped by a monthly or yearly plan. Count the running cost, not just the hardware.
- Consent: people may not notice a wearable is recording. For work use, plan on telling them.
