This category turns over fast. Play.ht and LOVO disappeared in 2026, and Resemble AI stopped taking new voice-generation customers that August. The two that remain, ElevenLabs and Murf, both offer an editor and an API, but their centre of gravity differs. ElevenLabs has grown into a general voice platform covering cloning, many languages and dubbing. Murf centres on a studio-style editor for shaping narration against video, with a separately priced, usage-based API.
How to choose
- Where it runs: an editor you work in by hand, or an API you call from code. That alone halves the list.
- Billing unit: a monthly plan allowance or pay-as-you-go API usage. If your volume swings from month to month, usage billing is easier to predict.
- Voice cloning: the quality of the source recording decides the result with every tool here. Check that you can supply clean audio before you choose.
